At Arcata High School, we want to enter the 21st century, and we want to take our students with us.
A new program, Innovation Design Institute (IDI) will focus on preparing students for a complex world. Instruction in the institute will focus on engaging students in project-based learning that places emphasis on creativity and innovation, critical thinking and problem solving, and communication and collaboration.
IDI is a space where Art and Science meet Design.
A space that brings together all the segregated art, shop, studio, and computer facilities.
A space where core disciplines (science, math, engineering, and the arts) can collide.
A space where students work collaboratively and individually innovating, designing and fabricating products that improve people’s lives locally and globally.
A space where students have access to teacher facilitators, industry experts, and industry standard software, technology and equipment.
